Coffee and cigarettes

yesterday I saw 'Coffee and Cigarettes'. Its quite an interesting movie. Not that I haven't seen similar ideas. There's one German movie, essentially a collective of several short ones, about conversations raveling life's facets in various ways. (I don't remember its name.. it was shown in some new movie maker's festival of international cinema in Pune.) In cofee n cigs, its done with taking conversation over coffee n cigs as a ruse, a common theme through the movie.
I though how simple conversations could lend themselves to creation of such fantastic movies. Before Sunrise and Before Sunset are easily amongst the most beautifully engrossing movies ever, and what they fill the space and time is with conversations. simple. conversations.
(Ofcourse Julie Delpy did help :D . She is simply brilliant, absolutely beautiful. She is so awesomishly godly in three colors: white.)
The leisure that this form of movie projects is simply astounding and alludes to an altogether different world. I guess, there's reflection of culture where such cinema is born that lends itself to the leisure feel of the narrative. One of my friends who returned from France shared with me how she was pleasantly surprised to see french people taking their leisure time seriously.
In urban india, such 'inactivity' will make you feel guilty. That's the 'spirit' of Mumbai... being busy for no reason.. they like 'the zing'. I find it to be a desperate attempt at lending a happy face to a sad existence. The rural india can and does appreciate leisure time, but the urban pressures are working towards getting them busy as well.

check out this flick.."Waking Life"...nice one...the whole movie had people talking about meaning of life..free will...

Before sunrise was totally kickass. i loved it. Come to think of it, it amazes me how can one be so engrossed in someone else's conversation. and the movie does that too.
Though, the sequel was quite good as well, i guess, it had to be the way it was.
waking life, i must c.. heard a lot about it.
what say strider?

Why I repair my shoe

I have 3 shoes. One formal, One sport shoe and another a mix of the two. The last one is particularly awesome, cause of its uniqueness. It looks like a formal shoe, but is as comfortable and flexible as a sport shoe. I bought it for my first job in Mumbai. I was newly rich and was expected to behave like one. I found this gem of pure black leather in a Colaba Causeway showroom. Quite a find. But its been almost two years now and the shoe shows its age. For all its awesomeness, its quite a weak shoe, to give out so early. I have stitched it, got new laces, and strengthened its sole. It doesn't look shiny anymore cause the leather has suffered from a few hostile trespasses. I think, like a man, things too should be allowed to carry their scars. the god is a waiter.

life escapes if you run after it. our destiny is nothing but to wait. a lesson fell through after having lived a quarter century worth of life. a quarter century. feels like a lot, when u say that. but doesn't really when i ask myself. a quarter century spent without any respect or regard to act of waiting. always, kicked it out of the way. or if the wait became far too imposing to avoid, i would recede back into a cocoon made of some other time and space. but even escapes become boring. waiting caught up with me. there is no escaping it. i await. i think, god is a waiter after all. he waits upon us to serve us life lessons. he waits until we appreciate the act of waiting. he holds our life until we calm down from our frenzy. and then hands the reins back to us when we can handle it, that is when the mirage of control is lifted and calm consumes you. i now understand, so to say, why have i had this desire to work as a waiter since quite a few years. it was freedom i thought earlier
